Bilan energetique d'une population naturelle de Crepidula fornicata dans le bassin de Marennes-Oleron ArchiMer
Deslous-paoli, Jean-marc; Heral, Maurice; Masse, H.
An energy budget has been evaluated for a natural population of Crepidula fornicata living at low water of spring tides in the oyster farming basin of Marennes-Oleron. This budget of production was estimated according to the position along the chain. The average biomass for an individual representative of the population was equivalent to 1.87 Kjoules, and the annual consumption C was 20.08 Kjoules/year. The energy budget expressed in percent of energy consummates was: C = Pg + Pr + Ps + R + F; 100 = 4.6 + 1.6 + 0.8 + 48 + 45. This budget is compared with literature data on other herbivorous gastropods and with those calculated for Crassostrea gigas in the same locality.

Etude ecophysiologique de quelques mollusques bivalves ArchiMer
Riva, A; Masse, H.
Using an experimental flowing system, the filtration rate of Mytilus galloprovincialis, Ostrea edulis, Ruditapes decussatus and Ruditapes aureus has been measured by an indirect technique under Mediterranean thermal conditions in coastal open sea. The oxygen consumption and excretion rate of ammonia have been estimated and influence of temperature and salinity tested for M. galloprovincialis . The results are discussed and compared to literature data.

Importance du recrutement de Spisula subtruncata (da Costa) sur la structure et les fluctuations d'un peuplement benthique ArchiMer
Cattaneo, M; Masse, H.
A 6-month survey on temporary meiofauna including settling specimens of macrofauna species shows the high mortality rates of young Spisula subtruncata . Considering this mortality, its importance of density fluctuations of the macrobenthos, it is suggested to avoid screens of less than 1 mm mesh-size in studies on structure and long term fluctuations of benthic communities. It is difficult to predict macrofauna density from the success of seasonal spatfall but these newly settle specimens represent a production available during periods of recruitment (1 to 1,4 g/m super(2)/month for Spisula subtruncata)).
